Working Pasco

Pasco means newer tubs and dusty cabinets. The growth wave off Road 68 and Broadmoor put a generation of spas in the ground three to six years ago, and they are arriving at their first real repairs — a seal here, a capacitor there — right on schedule. Meanwhile the plateau wind keeps loading equipment bays with fine grit that clogs motor vents and blankets sensors.

A Pasco visit from us usually starts with compressed air before instruments: clear the dust, then measure. A surprising number of 'failures' leave in the shop vac.

Pasco questions

My spa is only four years old — should it really need repair?
Year three to six is when the first wear parts arrive: seals, capacitors, the odd sensor. It is normal, it is cheap if caught early, and it is most of our Pasco work.
Does the dust out here actually hurt anything?
It clogs motor cooling and coats sensors, which causes real faults and fake ones alike. A yearly bay clean-out prevents both kinds.

From the work orders

Job Cards, Lightly Redacted

Real faults, real fixes — the paperwork version, minus the addresses.

WO-1408

Element read 9.2 ohms cold

Right in spec — so the no-heat fault wasn't the element. High-limit had drifted; forty-dollar sensor, not a heater assembly.

WO-1371

Overheat every July afternoon

Cover on, 104° set, west-facing deck. Not a fault — physics. Dropped the setpoint two degrees and the trips stopped.

WO-1502

Hum, no spin, tripped in 40 sec

Start capacitor bulged at the top. Swapped on the tailgate; pump outlived the visit by design.

WO-1466

Grinding on high speed only

Bearings, water-etched from a seal that had wept all spring. Wet end saved, motor replaced, seal done properly.
